The next PhIG meeting will be held at the AIIM boardroom at the Innovation Campus, Squires way, courtesy Glen Moore.
The Preliminary Agenda will be as follows: Know Your Camera: The topic will be 'methods used to minimise hand shake when using a camera without a tripod'. Canon call their system, Image stabilisation (IS) while Nikon call their system Vibration Reduction (VR). Sony call their system 'Optical Stabilisation' (OS) Both Canon and Nikon include the stabilisation mechanism in their lens whereas Sony and others incorporate the mechanism into the camera body. We will show a video of how the Image stabilisation works and then another short video which explains its limitations and when IS, VR or OS should and shouldn't be used. Members are asked to bring along their cameras to be able to demonstrate the system. Night Photography: The topic for the July Meeting is 'Night Lights' which is a bit more challenging than daylight photography. We will discuss techniques to provide good photographs in low light conditions. Stacking Pictures to reduce noise: Glen will tell us how it is done with particular reference to astronomical photography Future photographic topics: We have set out the photo topics for the rest of this year but will discuss the possibility of using some of the Canon 'Light Awards' briefs for the future. Any others? Photo Critique: The photo topic is 'Anzac Day' and, as a back-up for those who didn't get any Anzac day shots, 'Aircraft'. Could members please e-mail me their 5 photos and I will put them into a PowerPoint presentation to allow us to quickly go backwards and forwards between the photos. Comments are closed.
