For almost all photos we want the picture to be in focus. There are various automatic focussing techniques used with some being more effective than others. The table below summarises the main Auto Focussing techniques:

· August Photo Shoot: Outings Director, Chris, has organised an outing (on Wednesday 10th August) to the Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour to view the Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibition. Several of the PhIG members indicated that they will attend this outing and use it as a photo shoot opportunity (in addition to viewing the exhibition). In discussing whether to have a subject for the photo shoot it was agreed that we will leave it open so that members can chose whatever subject they like. Rather than leave the review of the photos until the September meeting it was agreed that we will hold an August meeting at the usual time on Monday 15th August with the photo critique being the photos taken at the Photo shoot. Graeme Deutscher will confirm whether he will host this meeting. Because of this change we need a subject for the September meeting and it was agreed that it should be ‘Springtime’. · Future Topics for discussion: Several topics were suggested for future meetings and we will plan to include the following:
